More from Yesterday
Author: twjurgens

The main purpose of yesterday's trip was to get shots of the Museum Special but you don't make a trip without seeing other trains!

First was BNSF 3131 & 2691 on switcher duty at Fremont.

While we waited for the special to return from Columbus, UP ran 3 stackers ahead of it. First, it was UP 7787, 6961, 6928, and NS 9306 with dpu 7097 with a fairly long train.

(more to come)

Then, UP 7477 and NS1142 had a much shorter train eastbound. The last train before the special was powered by UP 5023, 4597, and an unidentified associate.

We thought we might be able to get more shots at Omaha but found railroad traffic snarled because of a broken drawbar. One of the parked trains was an OMAX coal load with 8056 and 7015.

(two more)

Not knowing how long it would take to resolve the problems, we headed home. On the way, BNSF 8203 with 8489 as dpu had a westbound manifest at Greenwood. We'd seen this train earlier at Fremont. The dpu shot is at Waverly.

Despite the clouds, it was a good day.

I like how the Arrowedge is composed in the shot led by UP 5023, you can definitely see the streamline concept. Thanks!
