Western Railroad Discussion > 3 UP Southern Cal trains from Sat.

We started with UP 9052 East at Cabazon in lousy light, but it had KCS ES44AC 4797, so we shot it anyway.

After it passed, things came to a halt with all red signals at Cabazon and nothing westbound down to the Cal-111 overpass.  There were two eastbound manifests, but they got stopped to let the rock train out.  We overtook the rock train at the old SP Hinda location and shot it near the old El Casco location.  In a change from the grungy and faded ES44ACs that had regularly powered the rock train, Saturday's train had ET44AC 2588 leading with SD70ACe 8837 on the rear.

Finding nothing between there and Redlands, we headed up to Verdemont for seven trains in 70 minutes.  Along with 6 BNSF trains, was UP 2572 West (PrototypeMike posted shots at Martinez yesterday).  

Also of interest was one of the BNSF grain covered hoppers with the GN logo at the Flour Mill at Verdemont
