Western Railroad Discussion > Lehigh Cement (or is it Cemex) Union City, CADate: 09/13/17 09:46 Lehigh Cement (or is it Cemex) Union City, CA Author: rdlehmer Noted last week that the cement distribution facility along I-880 at Industrial Parkway in Union City had cars in it again after several years of disuse. Is this a job for the Mulford Switcher?
Ron Date: 09/13/17 10:01 Re: Lehigh Cement (or is it Cemex) Union City, CA Author: ble692 This was discussed last month.

On duty 08:10 Monday-Saturday, the Mulford often follows the southbound Starlight (if on time). Before this spur came back to life, the crew would usually only work south to MP 23. Now, if you hear the crew get a warrant to MP 26 (could be 27), they are likely going all the way south to this cement spur.

Heidelberg bought the sand and gravel business of Hanson Industries in the 1980s, as well. That's in the same group.
Cemex is owned by public share holders, but controlled by the Zambrano family. LaFarge is a French-Swiss firm, and Titan is Greek owned. |
