Anyone near Keddie, CA and/or Quarry Road ?
Author: DaveL

It seems that the BNSF has a lead loco on a north bound train at Quarry Road
that has suffered a broken flange on the #5 axle on the engineers side.
The crew does not know where it happened. (probably on the UP)

If you know the "lay of the land" at Quarry Road, you are aware that lifting
that loco at that spot just might be next to impossible.

I will be in Reno today so I cannot be around to see the "fun".

Being the center axle, and therefore unlikely to derail, it seems that they could crawl the locomotive to a more accessible location

I told neighbor Dave I'd check it out on my way to the (ugh) dentist.
Maybe the thing can limp to Crescent Mills?

Here's the report: As of about 1530 hours, the train is still at QuarrY Road. However, Renzenberger vans were flitting around, so maybe something is going to move (or crews are headed back to their home terminals).

Well here is the culprit, the RR thinks it hit a rock in the Feather River Canyon.
The engine consist was moved from QuarrY Road to the Crescent Mills siding at the blazing speed of 1 mph.
The move took just over 4 hours to complete !
Train is now heading north.

A little JB Weld will fix that!

The stricken train finally made its way north around 1630 with the remaining 3 units. There have been a couple sb's since then so the railroad is back in business after a very long day. Of course they parked the broken #7141 right next to the piles of discarded ties!
