KCS Belles on the Austin Sub this morning
Author: PALuvR

I received a heads-up that a quartet of KCS Belles was bringing a NB train through Central Texas this morning. I saw on ATCS that the presumed KCS train was going to have to stop at Bergstrom until a SB'er had climbed Bergstrom Hill and gotten into the siding. So I headed that way to catch the action.

1. OLMWG-22 with KCS 4151, 4045, 4813 and 4585 holding the main
2. MFWSA with UP 4205, 4208, 6652, 8546 and 1352 for power entering Bergstrom Siding
3. The "Meet"

4. UP 1352 ex-D&RGW GP40-2
5. Empty oil train getting underway
6. KCS 4585 looking pretty sharp

The next train through was an EMD-powered stack train with UP 5145 and 4143 followed by a second stacker powered by UP 2708 and 5154.

I appreciate y'all taking a look. Thanks.

Mike

Looks like you had a great day trackside Mike. Sure liked the KCS train and the meet picture. Nice to see EMD units at work.

I believe this is an empty diesel fuel train from Mexico going back to the Port Arthur area to reload. Not an oil train. As far as I know it's a joint UP/KCS operation.

Very impressive day. Great catch on getting 4 Belles--I can't normally get that on the KCS mainline .
