A total of thirty color photographs depicting a variety of railroad scenes across the United States are available for viewing until October 1st at the following times: M, W, Fri, 8-5; Tues, Thurs, 8-8; and Sat, Sun 9-1.
Ken will return to the Cultural Activities Center on Saturday, September 30th at 2 pm for a presentation that promises to include some photos not currently on display along with a personal reflection about his work as a railroad photographer. Ken will be available after the program to answer questions and light refreshments will be served. Ken began his lifelong passion for railroads at the age of five while spending his summers in Sweetwater, Texas watching family friends work at the Santa Fe train yard. Taking a photography course at age 12 allowed him to start capturing the railroad’s people, operations, equipment and character for historical purposes. Since that time his photography has appeared in many different railroad magazines, books and calendars. He also authored the books “Dallas Then and Now” in 2014 and “Train Stations Then and Now” in 2017 along with several photo books that were written as internal publications for different railroad companies. Today Ken works as a full-time photographer in the railroad industry. He is a certified contractor with BNSF Railway, Fort Worth Transportation Authority, Union Pacific, Kansas City Southern, and Fort Worth & Western among his customers. Ken also collects model trains and antique locomotive horns in his spare time. Questions?
