GE Ft Worth on the 19th of Sept 2017
Author: ns2557

On Tuesday 19 Sept I managed to get over to the GE Ft Worth Facility to have a look see at what was around. Other than 7 CP C44AC's and some UP T4's I found these .

Shot 1. BNSF B40-8W 509. In fresh paint to boot. Not sure what it's doing here tho. Right in front of it was a BNSF C44-9W. No other BNSF Units around.

Shot 2. 3 new CN ES44AC's. 2984, 2992 and 2990. 2993 was in Paint Shop 1. How many are in this CN order anyone know? And is CN not interested in purchasing any Tier 4 units for use on their US Lines, like the IC perhaps?

Did notice what appeared to be an NS unit farther north on what will be the GE Test Track here, didn't go that far north to check it out tho.

Ya'll take care. Ben

The 509 looks good in the black underframe/trucks.

Wonder if the black frame and trucks will be standard BNSF paint?

On the 509, are the extra "cooling tubes/lines" on the top of the radiator grille on the long hood part of the rebuild? Have seen this on other GE's on NS and mostly on the older models. Split Cooling? Or something completely different? Ben

Do you know if BNSF may have more B40-8W's to be rebuilt in the future or just the 10 for now? Also what numbers if you have that info? Thanks for any answers.

Are these CN units EPA certified as Tier 4 credit units, or will they be uncertified and confined to Canada? How many are in this order?

Thanks.
