Some MoP for a Monday
Author: zephyrus

As part of the recent Portola Railroad Days the last weekend in August, the Western Pacific Railroad Museum arranged to have some Heritage Units on hand for the public to tour.

While we could not get our first picks, the WP and DRGW units, the UP graciously provided the MoP Heritage engine and a new Tier 4 EMD SD70.

We feature a short body MoP caboose on our excursion train and it is always a rider favorite. We quickly set about getting new graphics made to refresh the old, very faded graphics and then paired the caboose with the UP 1982. The fresh graphics got a lot of compliments and everyone enjoyed seeing the MoP Heritage unit paired with an authentic MoP caboose.

Wonder if this is the first time the engine has been coupled to original Missouri Pacific rolling stock?

Enjoy the photos. All taken by Greg Elems and posted with permission.

As much as I hate the MOP, that's pretty cool EJV.
