EWG's Roller Coaster
Author: funnelfan

A short train on the "Roller Coaster" between Reardan and Hite, WA on the Eastern Washington Gateway RR. Since it's short, it's only going up two hills and down another at the same time. It sure was smokey this summer despite the lack of any large fires within 50 miles of Spokane. The profile shows the roller coaster of 1% grades pretty well.

Interesting train on that branch. What is in the tank cars?

Great shot, and what a mix of motive power!

Couple pieces in that shot look to be capable of taking care of those nice golden fields, know
what I mean GE fans? Great shot, love the power (even if it doesn't run all the time).

Train looks kind of long to me. Not too short. As others have posted, nice mix of power.

Being out in that farm country, I'd guess that the tank cars hauled Anhydrous Ammonia which is used as a form of fertilizer, I think. Lots of them come down out of Canada on the UPs Spokane sub.

That is an interesting mix of power, and a nice shot, Ted.
