UP operation question
Author: truxtrax

Is the UP running anything on a regular basis on the Oregon Trunk
and is the switch lead still in place west of Biggs Jct?

The switch lead had a new signal the last time I went through, so I'd say it still is functional.

(EDIT: I was assuming you meant the switch to get onto the Oregon Trunk from UP. Now, I realize you may not have meant that... if you're talking about a track by the Biggs Jct. grain elevator, I don't know, sorry.)

In the several times I have been by the Trunk Switch off the UP it does not appear to have been used for some time. Having said that, I have been told the UP has essentially abandoned any business to the BNSF on the Trunk. All is in place for use of the switch, including the new signal protecting movement onto the newly installed CTC for westward movement to the new crossovers to the west. Are the crossovers called Dune?

I believe you're correct, the CP is Dune.
