Not exactly like Tehachapi but...

...I'm sure glad there are still trains like this (Oregon Zoo) where dads and moms can take their young ones on a fun family train ride.

Hello, Oregon Zoo? The 50's called, they want their train back!

Is the full length open now? Didn't it use to go to the Rose Garden?

It no longer goes to the rose garden. I was told that the track was unstable due to soil issues and it's too expensive to fix. Still a fun ride though.

LOL! And the Rock Island really wants to come back, and
bring the serotrain with it, and the "Golden State", too!

"Too expensive" is only applied to things we ordinary
people want and need, and not ever to anything the mega-
wealthy want. The cost of repairing that roadbed would
not even be chickenfeed to one of them. They could easily
afford it, and if the Zoo is an official non-profit, a
mega-wealthy person could then take it off their tax return.

In any case, I, too am glad this wonderful train is still running.

My dad ride the Rock Island Aerotrain from Joliet into Chicago for a while and he decided to change to the GM&O's heavyweight coaches because the Aerotrain rode so rough o the Rock Island's tracks.
Also let us not forget the Union Pacific's effort with this style train on the City of Las Vegas as well.

I rode this version many times as a child. Great ride. Much more attractive then anything Amtrak runs these days :-)

Is that track switch not set the wrong way?
