Visiting Tehachapi Loop
Author: sd60m

Thinking about making a run to Tehachapi Loop tomorrow...Friday...will train volumes be back to "normal" and/or what is the best time to be there...or is it just a "crap shoot?"

Where is the best point to view the loop action?

I know this is not a new subject...or question...so, thanks for any kind and patient response.

On Woodford-Tehachapi Road, there's a pull off near the small monument that offers a decent view. Access to this road available off Hwy. 58 at Keene.

Here's my question: Can you still walk out onto the hill on the east side that overlooks the Loop?
I seem to remember reading somewhere this was now off limits. TIA for a reply.

You cant be trackside but you CAN have full access to the big hill on the east side. If you get on top, you can see trains from the other direction too.
