The last day of my travels across Nevada yielded only one train, a stack train near the metropolis of Humboldt, NV. UP 8922 east hit a detector near Lovelock and I figured I had a train coming... I got off the freeway and found an embankment on the south side of the tracks to serve as a camera platform. The detector at Humboldt said it was doing 66 mph. Three units up front and two buried 2/3 of the way back in the train had it moving near track speed.

You sure can see the heat pouring off the lead units! Nice shots.
I'm glad to hear that the UP detectors over there are still giving information. The ones around here (so. cal.)talk on entry only.
