I see that train a-comin'...
Author: santafe199

With apologies to Johnny Cash here’s a little late Autumn eastbound action down at the Moehlman Rd crossing in the SW corner of my home town.

1. UP 5749 on an eastbound coal train in Manhattan, KS on December 6, 2017.

Thanks for looking!

Great sunset photo, Lance. Could be a nice RR-related motivational poster.

P.S. - I look forward to a friendly game between our 2 favorite college football teams at the Cactus Bowl later this month.

Aha! You just became my favorite friendly antagonist! :^) I see the location is Phoenix which would seem to give the Bruins a geographical "home team" advantage. But fair warning: K-State has a very well-traveled fan base that usually surprises everyone (except the K-State fan base, of course). There will no doubt be several 1000s of loyal purple-clad maniacs in the stadium for the contest. It should be great fun!

Nice composition. Its a train photo without the train dominating the shot.

Lance,

Yes, I've seen that K-State fan base at an early season non-conference game with UCLA at the Rose Bowl maybe 5-6 years ago and they do travel well. I was sitting in a more or less neutral part of the stadium yet I was surrounded by Wildcat fans. The Bruins somehow won that game in the Rick Neuheisel era, as they usually seem to do pretty good in the first 3 games of the year (it's those other 9 conference games that have been the problem - notwithstanding the glory years of now-Packer QB Brett Hundley at the helm of the offense).

Should be a good game in the desert.

Thanks, Bob! I've had my eye on this shot for some time, but I got pretty lucky when that car just wandered in and garnished the composition...
