Since there's the distinctive ties planted in the ground I'm going to offer the Modoc wye just SP west of Klamath Falls. Sure miss those cabooses, but I know the crews don't.

(The world doesn't revolve around California, you know.) Someone's already touched on at least one clue and I added to it. Frankly I'm a little surprised at you Larry, living in Oregon (oops, there's a big hint) and not getting this one. Then again, maybe your'e a transplant form another state and were't around here in 1981 when the shot was taken.
