Western Railroad Discussion > Galveston Island Streetcar/Trolley

Technically they're streetcars, but the locals refer to 'em as trolleys. They also call the gas-powered, four-tired bus a trolley.

Is anyone on here plugged into the organization that operates this railroad? I'm trying to find out when they're expecting to resume operations. The website has more information about the trolley/bus than the streetcar service and I figured I'd ask here on TO before subjecting myself to the mercy of a bureaucratic phone system.

The best I've determined is that operations may resume this summer. Anyone have better information?

I am planning on being in Galveston in September 2018. What are good railfan things to do?

A visit to the Galveston Railroad Museum is a must.......

Stay off port property and dont take pictures of trains on port property .Greg

A little off topic, but the offshore oil rig museum is worth a look, very well done and educational.
