MRL People...any word on the Aussie SD70-aces
Author: Barstool

About aweek ago, a small group of SD70aces from down under rolled out of Tacoma numbered EMDX 1001,1002,1003 and 1004 and were bound for the MRL.....The question is , are these units at the main shop now???

To clarify, the BHP units went to Tacoma and Progress Rail for a rebuild. They are not on the MRL property yet.

Earliest I heard would be late summer.

EMDX 1001 and 1002 arrived Tacoma, WA 2/04/18, bound for the Progress Rail shop there. There is not an EMDX 1003 or 1004, at least on BNSF Railway. There is, however, an EMDX 1005, 1008, 2001 and 2002. All are billed to Progress Rail in Tacoma. 1005 and 2001 are en route on the H NTWPAS9 16A.

I missed it somewhere. MRL has bought Austrailian EMD’s and possibly EMD demo units? How many?

The EMD Tier 4 demos were testing for EMD in Mullan Pass helper service. These are way out of MRL's budget. Hence the interest in the used but fully refurbished ACe units. I have not heard any deal on those has been completed.
