The Heartland Express numbers were disappointing to me because that's a more or less local firm, based in North Liberty (Iowa City area), IA. AFAIK they don't use rail. TL, from largest on down, from 1 through 10: Swift, Schneider, JB Hunt, Landstar, Prime, Werner, US Express Enterprises, CRST, Crete, CR England. LTL, from largest on down, 1 through 10: FedEx, XPO, Old Dominion, YRC, UPS, Estes, ABF, YRC Regional, R+L, Saia. I would provide the link but think you need to be a subscriber so don't want to violate any copyright issues. But interesting statistics nonetheless. Most are intermodal users, or have been. We'll see as driver-ELD/equipment shortages and railroad service issues all play out.
