Tacoma Rail? Ex Columbia & Cowlitz?
Author: railwaybaron

When I'm done at Winterail this weekend, I plan to visit friends in Longview WA. Is the former Columbia & Cowlitz still running? if so when might I see it cross the giant trestle? Where's the power kept? Also, I want to shoot Tacoma Rail. I'll be happy with a few roster shots, are the "locals" friendly? Where's the engine house and can I get access for some roster shots? I'll probably be there this Sunday afternoon. Thanks in advance!

Nope, that line is not used any longer since the Landfill and woods trains
no longer run this line !

The "new" Columbia & Cowlitz operates right close to Longview now and all they
use are 2 or 3 SW1500's that were from the Weyerhaeuser operation.

Sorry

A small trestle over a street closer to Longview has been removed, totally cutting off the line over the river. I feel your pain. As close as I live now, I never connected with a train over the bridge. They wee running at night a lot near the end.

I fortunately crossed over a train on that line twice while on Interstate 5 in my life. Sad it's no longer in service.
