Probably deadheading them.

Surely just the one unit would have been enough with the massive reduction in drag resulting from four aero-wedges...the train must have almost pulled itself!

That one is a different design than the one UP announced in 2013, and that it claimed to have patents on, as was seen on the UP website or others pictured on this website.
This one looks a lot simpler and cheaper to make.

Last week a west-bound had four(4) Arrowedge's MID-TRAIN thru Cheyenne! Weird.

Don't know why the thing slopes downward in front . . . seems like that would add drag. Just bring the two sides to a point and be done with it, like a McKeen car.

aerodynamics in every direction. if the engines were as high as the double stack, it would be a different story. but they are not, so you have to lift that air up and over. dave, out.

Same surface area or less would be the result of the down-slope...plus a little bit of down-force will help the train not take-off at higher speeds...

Is the crew instructed not to pass over a scale track at speed, on account of the arrow wedge's downforce fooling the scale?

Maybe they should put one arrowedge on in front like a railrunner trailer to push the air up over the loco into the second arrowedge

That style is a lot easier to build for us modelers.
