May 24, 2008 Date: 04/19/18 12:10 Re: Alaska Railroad - 10 Years After Author: Margaret_SP_fan Those are really cool photos of some wonderful locomotives -- especially the 3007. Her dynamic brake blister looked like pure SP, so I looked her up on railroadpicturearchives.net" and aw that sh was built in Jan., 1976, for the Alaska RR as a GP40-2. I wondered if she had the SP-style L-shaped engineer's window, and -- she does! At lest, she did on Aug. 25, 2016, when a great photo was taken that clearly shows that she and her sister, the 3005, both have that SP-style :-shaped engineers window!
I really like the paint scheme she and her sisters are wearing, at least, as of Aug., 2016, the date of the most recent photo I can find of thee great locomotives. EDIT -- Many things about the 3007 scream "SP": - Her L-shaped engineer's side window - Her dynamic brake blister - The font used in the lettering on her flank - The font used for the number on her cab But rrpicturearcjhives says she was built for the Alaska RR (in April, 1976). Someone in the Alaska RR back in the mid-1970s must have been a real SP fan~ Love it! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/20/18 15:15 by Margaret_SP_fan. It became available on one of thier free preview channels this month.
