Western Railroad Discussion > San Jose Local MysteryDate: 04/20/18 15:16 San Jose Local Mystery Author: MikeRail Hey gang,
Out running errands and happened to catch a local on the Warm Springs Sub track. UP 1453 and UP Y651 were making a run of 16 hoppers south. I figured that this might have been the Permanente Local, but the hoppers and engines were both too small. Usually, I see more powerful engines and cars on that run. There is a cement plant located south off the Main Tracks just north of Capitol Expwy that does get hoppers of that size but I didn't make it down that far.. What local would this run be called in this case? Many thanks! MikeRail Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/20/18 15:49 by MikeRail. They no longer run the 6-axle power and longer trains when heading to the Permanente Lehigh Cement Plant. 10-20 hoppers pulled by a few Geeps is common nowadays.

I just wasn't sure and wanted to double check. :) MikeRail Posted from Android Date: 04/21/18 22:03 Re: San Jose Local Mystery Author: coach Only 10-20 hoppers pulled by a few Geeps? Only a month ago I while doing an LTL delivery in Campbell, I watched 4 Geeps roll by with 42 empty hoppers in tow, heading back to San Jose.
