Western Railroad Discussion > Auto MAX Carriers still in service?Date: 05/15/18 08:23 Auto MAX Carriers still in service? Author: JLW2K I've been railfanning lately and noticed many auto rack trains but not any auto max auto carriers, the large white sided articulated carriers produced in the 90's and early 2000's. Are they out of service already? I have been watching in western and central Nebraska on UP lines with no luck.
Thanks! Date: 05/15/18 08:49 Re: Auto MAX Carriers still in service? Author: fbe You still see them on BNSF headed to the PNW sometimes via MRL.
Date: 05/15/18 09:03 Re: Auto MAX Carriers still in service? Author: inCHI I think I have seen them recently on the La Plata, Mo railcam on BNSF, and also on the Dealer, OH railcam on CSX. Aren't the dedicated cars for Honda or something like that?

Posted from iPhone Date: 05/15/18 14:59 Re: Auto MAX Carriers still in service? Author: atx_railfan I saw some a few days ago on a UP train here in Austin, Texas. First time in a while though. I think they may be captive to certain plants as some here have noted

Author: mg8711 Even though UP owns a few of them, it is, for me here in Kansas at least, abnormal to see them on UP trains. As said earlier, quite frequently do they show up on BNSF trains.
