UP week 19 carload and intermodal report...

verses the same week in 2017:


Down (shipments of more than 1000 carloads per week)

Coal 5%
Grain mill products 11%
Food/kindred products 5%
Chemicals 1%
Non Metallic minerals 11%
Motor vehicles/equipment 8%
All other 15%


Up (shipments of more than 1000 carloads per week)

Grain 4%
Crushed stone/sand/gravel 30%
Lumber/wood products 8%
Pulp/paper/allied products 17%
Petroleum products 38%
Stone/clay/glass products 11%
Petroleum coke/coking coal 13%
Metals/metal products 16%


Other "up's" (less than 1000 carloads per week)

Metallic ores 88% (406 vs. 216)
Primary forest products 129% (268 vs. 117) NOTE: I still haven't figured out what exactly these carloads are...
Farm products, except grain 16% (374 vs. 322)


Intermodal loadings

Containers up 10% (about 7,000 more than same week last year)
Trailers up 25% (about 600 more than same week last year)


Combined increase of 6% over same week in 2017.

Primary forest products = wood chips??? Not lumber, not wood "products"...

I guess they aren't shipping bears, wolves, moose or rabbits from the forest
