Western Railroad Discussion > World Series DisplayDate: 06/19/18 14:04 World Series Display Author: twjurgens Posted on behalf of fellow TO member Scotty.
We took a trip to Omaha, NE to see the 1943 and train moved for display at the College World Series. Cars on the train were: UPP 3008 UPP 2055 UPP 208 Willie James Feather River Green River Portola Pacific Limited Lake Bluff Little Rock UPP 2066 City of San Francisco Harriman UPP 5769 City of Denver Colorado Eagle Walter Dean Overland City of Los Angeles St. Louis For us, the most unusual car was UPP 3008. WP Jones advised that this is a former Ringling Bros car. These scenes are some of my favorites from that trip. Date: 06/19/18 15:47 Re: World Series Display Author: Bob3985 Willie James and Walter Dean were long time Commissary employees. Willie was a cool chef and Walter was a very dignified Lounge car attendant. I got to meet the both of them among many other commissary employees on our trips with their equipment. Another great chef was LaVerne Anderson who was a good double for comedian Louie Anderson. After operating a special trip for the Oregon Symphony we were headed home and when we got to Pocatello to overnight he told us he was fixing us dinner. What he did was fix three huge deep dish pizzas with all the leftovers from the Special trip. He had a Meat, Veggie and Seafood pizza. What a great bunch of guys.

It's my understanding that the new power car is a former RBB Circus car. Date: 06/19/18 16:27 Re: World Series Display Author: TomG No E units! Oh the humanity of it all......

UPP 3008 is ex implement flat and I believe is the same car that hauled the UP1243 around for several years. It had a MOW number back then I think Steve twjurgens Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Posted on behalf of fellow TO member Scotty. > > We took a trip to Omaha, NE to see the 1943 and > train moved for display at the College World > Series. My recollection is that it would be a tough shoot unless you had a drone. Date: 06/20/18 05:41 Re: World Series Display Author: acltrainman I would like to know if anyone has ex history of the power car 2055. I have a bunch of RBBX cars and don't see anything that looks like that unless UP did a rebuild of it.

It was rebuilt in 2011 and ran on the red unit all the way through until the end. The car was originally built as UP postal storage car 5780 and then went into MOW service before being purchased by Ringling. Do you happen to know the car's RBBX number before it was RBBX 63013. About a year ago, someone hinted that 63013 was a new number because of the rebuild as a power car. http://utahrails.net/pass/heritage-fleet-3.php#upp2055 Don Strack http://utahrails.net/ |
