Western Railroad Discussion > A few Tehachapi Shots from 2016Date: 06/21/18 20:40 A few Tehachapi Shots from 2016 Author: RayLewis In late 2003 I started an endeavor to try to do more hiking on Tehachapi. Like many though, life happened and as the years passed some of the shots I had in mind never came to fruition as free time diminished. Here are a few a was able to capture in 2016.
Shot 1 is BNSF 9061 headed south on the Loop Shot 2 is BNSF 5274 also southbound back in Ilmon. Ray Date: 06/22/18 02:36 Re: A few Tehachapi Shots from 2016 Author: Railfan4Christ Wow, super shots, Ray! I think you got an IOTD in there somewhere. Thanks for posting.

Beautiful shots. Thanks for posting them. Perhaps a drone is in your future. ʎɹɹɐ˥ Date: 06/22/18 07:11 Re: A few Tehachapi Shots from 2016 Author: RayLewis Thank you all. I've had 2 drones...long story. Waiting til the lenses selection is better. But they are fun for sure!

Larry Date: 06/23/18 19:42 Re: A few Tehachapi Shots from 2016 Author: O_S_Jenks Both pictures are incredible; and, picture 1 demonstrates to me the amazing length of contemporary trains. As I recall, the Loop is about 4000' plus/minus in circumference; so, in the "old days" a 100 car train of 40 foot cars would result in the helper passing under the lead locomotive(s) upgrade, vice versa downgrade. While the camera angle may cause a bit of distortion, it looks like the locomotives are already over the train, or about to be, with most of the train yet to enter the tunnel. Amazing to a person who has childhood memories of going to "the Loop" with his father in the years between 1959 and 1962. Thank you for the post!
