Yep....More Seligman Sub Scenes
Author: RayLewis

I have been out and about the past two weeks trying to knock out a few shots I was unseccessful with during 2017.  Still didnt quite get 100% what I wanted, but got some great clouds and wonderful scenes. Hoping this weekend works out.
Photo 1 - BNSF 6467 leads the Eastbound ZSBDALT9-06 on 6 July at East Canyon Diablo, AZ
Photo 2 - BNSF 5803 is west at Nelson, AZ leading the SALTOIG1-26. I am standing on top of the mountain the Nelson tunnel goes through.

#1 is heavenly! That stretch of track after coming off Angell is relatively flat with lots of short undulating "whoops". It gets windy up there and then you're pulling to keep speed.
#2 is a decent drop to the tunnel. Nice area and photo!

Nice pair, thanks for the share Ray.  That's a real nice sunset shot.  The distant mountains look like a painting.  The last shot has some of the most colorful boxes I've seen.  The great vantage point definitely enhances the colors.

Both are very nice!

Is the Nelson location tough to get into?  I'd like to get it on one of our Arizona trips sometime.

Thank you all. It's a great spot in late June/early July out there at C Diablo. As for Nelson....Nelson's not too hard to get to from the west side. Just take hyde park road to the crossing...turn west down the dirt road....go all the way down to a bridge. Go underneath the train bridge then you can take that dirt road all the way back to a gate that's about a 1/4 mile from the tunnel. All the drive is a good distance from the ROW. From there I just walk back to the tunnel. But you could drive all the way to the tunnel, but you are on ballast really close to the tracks. I like to keep a low profile. I Look at google maps and all this will make sense.

#1 is grand!   Might be pretty impressive as a black and white!

Excellent depiction of AZ railroading! Monsoonal skies and snaking thru the desert.
