UP 3613 on the point

SD9043AC UP 3613 at the head of a long manifest heading north out of Eugene at Milliron Road in Junction City.  The first I have seen in Eugene in several years.

Thanks, everyone!  I have been on the lookout for one ever since I started seeing pictures of them in Southern California.  I am curious if they were rebuilt in any way when painted - maybe someone could chime in.  I wonder if they recovered the horns they stole from the 9043MACs in Dunsmuir.

They may have gotten wings medallions, but they weren’t repainted (or rebuilt afaik). Kind of unique on UP in that regard; most models only get wings during a trip through the paint booth.

I may be completely incorrect, but I kinda recall a discussion one time which stated that the wings were applied (without repainting) to signify those UP SD90/43ac units that had the truck sideframe overhauls done to them.  Again, I might be wrong...

Looks like the "early, non-lightning bolt" paint scheme and that Harbor Mist gray looks kinda faded, eh?

Most had the frame crack problem fixed, but no other rebuilding.
It seems most of all UP locos that go into storage, seem to get a wash prior.   They sit clean, then start fading.   Just about every 90 I've seen has this look, as well as most previously stored SD60M's and some Dash-9's.   Clean, faded, and often graffitied.
