China (?) to California via Chicago?
Author: timz

Page C1 of Wednesday's SF Chronicle: "Microsoft says it ships some California-bound computers through Prince Rupert and Chicago." No further info. Anyone know more about that? What other such examples?

Prince Rupert is about 2 sailing days closer to China then Oakland.

They may ship (via air) direct to Chicago from the Far East, then transfer to containers and ground shipment for the trip west.

Prince Rupert is the closest west coast port to Asia. Then the CN to Chicago in 5 days. Put the computers in a distribution center and ship to California from there. Could just be on going stocking loads with the transit time built in.

I didn't quote the whole item, but pretty sure
they meant the computers went to Chicago
via Prince Rupert.
