Author: ATSF100WEST My apologies that this is later than I planned on posting this, but I had some connectivity issues. I want to offer my heartiest
congratulations to all of the volunteers at OERM who dedicated six long years to the immaculate restoration of Santa Fe FP45 108 - the last FP45 ordered by the road. The pictures here, and the video, only partially suffice in conveying the beauty and craftsmanship that one only can readily appreciate by seeing it in person. I hope you will take the time and go see this for yourselves. It truly is a time transporter - like that we always dream about. Hopefully it's kept indoors overnight where the Perris sun can't fade the paint prematurely. Rich Date: 10/11/18 07:14 Re: Santa Fe FP45 108 reveal at the OERM last Saturday... Randy Lundgren Elgin, TX Date: 10/11/18 14:09 Re: Santa Fe FP45 108 reveal at the OERM last Saturday... Author: jimB Great restoration. I like seeing it in the original lettering, even if the superfleet schemewas probably an improvement.
Here it is as I believe the last FP45 in blue pinstripes at Cajon Summit in Nov 1975 waiting for the Super C. The crew invited icancmp193 and me up in the cab just in time to get a grab shot of the C. At the time it didn't register on this inexperienced railfan that it was an FP45, since I thought they were all yellow bonnet. Unfortunately I was using High Speed Ektachrome that day as an experiment (failed). Jim B Date: 10/11/18 14:49 Re: Santa Fe FP45 108 reveal at the OERM last Saturday... Author: ns1000 NIICE..!!

Interesting choice of horn. A U manifold Leslie RS3L (RSU3L). I cant say the U portion is correct for these, but those RS heads sure are not. Date: 10/11/18 20:17 Re: Santa Fe FP45 108 reveal at the OERM last Saturday... Author: atsf121 Fantastic restoration work, hope to see it in person soon.

All EMD 45 Series units came equipped with a 20-645E3 prime mover (diesel engine). Certainly is a beautiful job! Date: 10/13/18 08:42 Re: Santa Fe FP45 108 reveal at the OERM last Saturday... Author: TomPlatten Remember the SF 108 (then 98) was operational when the restoration started. We were aware of the of the mechanical needs at that time. All of the major components were inspected during the six year program. Part of the cam shaft was "upgraded" and the gear driven turbo charger was overhauled and Richard and John returned the cab to as original as possible. The locomotive still has some minor items to deal with but nothing to prevent it from making some money for the museum!
