I was at the east portal of the Moffat Tunnel between 10:30 am and 2:30 pm today. The weather was a mixture of sun and snow showers. Five trains passed through the tunnel while I was there.1 & 2 Amtrak #5 lead by 156 running about an hour late.=11pt3 Eastbound BNSF lead by BNSF 3813 with some sun coming through the clouds.

4 Westbound empty UP coal train with 6 locomotives lead by UP 7294.
5 Eastbound UP  Officer's Special lead by 1943.
6 Westbound empty UP coal lead by UP 8392 got its turn at the tunnel as the snow picked up. It had been waiting for over an hour at Tolland for UP  Officer's Special to pass. Kansas City Southern 4600 was one of the 6 locomotives.

I see two coal trains with six on the point, on each one. Any helpers on either of those?
Thanks for the most excellent posts!

Only power on the front of the train. This is standard on the empty coal trains running on the Moffat.  When they come back loaded they will be 2X2X2 or 2X3X1.
