York Street on ramp to westbound Interstate 70 has been removed to make room for UP shoofly that was built November 3 & 4, 2018.  UP's inbound and outbound tracks under I-70 were cut.  Single shoofly track placed in service November 4, 2018 at Denver, CO.  UPY 625 with UP 1672 moved train out of 36th Street Yard and east to Roydale Yard.

Time frame for construction and will UP end up with a better track alignment or system once construction is completed?

Figure 6-12 months for new highway right-of-way & railroad overpass to be built.  UP will revert to its old alignment when construction allows.

Isn't this the section of I-70 that is slated to be moved below grade in the near future? Hard to believe they would invest the money to rebuild the ramp, just to have to redo it soon. Then again, I haven't seen much in the way of logic when it comes to CDOT highway operations.

In this case, a shoofly is used to move trains around a construction site. This allows construction to continue with minimal interuptions from train traffic.
