BNSF's Ballard Bridge, aka Bridge 6.3, aka GN Lift Bridge

You may know that BNSF has begun the process of replacing the former GN Lift Bridge across Salmon Bay at the Ballard Locks in Seattle.

I thought it a good idea to get out there and gets some more shots before things changed too much. 

So, with some time available on 11/15/18, I headed out to the bridge to find that some preliminary work had already begun. 

1 & 2) SB Cascades crossing the bridge.

3) The area in orange fencing was getting truck load after truck load of gravel while I was there.

Thanks Steve. Ballard is one of my all-time favorite spots to visit with the trains, locks and great neighborhood restaurants.

I understand it's to be a vertical lift bridge.
