Anyone know the details? Several sources report there will be a memorial service at the National Cathedral in Washington DC. President Trump will attend. Whether Mr Bush's body will be there is unclear at this point. Date: 12/01/18 07:17 Re: RIP, George H.W. Bill Miller Galt, ON Date: 12/01/18 07:40 Re: RIP, George H.W. Bush Author: wpjones Not so! This train has been planned for several years by the UP right down to the consist.
Just because the geneal public didn't know doesn't mean it's not planned. Bob Krieger Cheyenne, WY Date: 12/01/18 10:55 Re: RIP, George H.W. Bush Author: JoCoLB What are the possibllities of U.P. 1943 also being utilized for the funeral train? Also, how close is the nearest railroad track to the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum? My understanding is that No. 4141 was previously on temprorary display at the presidential center grounds soon after the locomotive was put in service.

Rumors are running rampent all over Facebook today but the only concrete info is that 4141 is heading to Houston at this time, 1943 is still in Council Bluffs per the UP computer. Anyone know the details? Train is planned to depart Houston on the SP line to Navasota, Texas and then on to College Station in Brazos County. The former SP track is very close to the Presidential Library. Date: 12/01/18 13:23 Re: RIP, George H.W. Bush Author: RustyRayls I'm really surprised that his body is not going to D.C. first to lay in in state at the Capitol Rotundra. I thought that was pretty much standard protocal for ex-Presidents?? Heck, they honored John McCain that way!

Sometime Sunday or early Monday morning, former President George H.W. Bush will be transported to Washington DC. The flight will be on Air Force One. He will then lie in state in the Capital Rotunda in Washington DC beginning Monday Dec 3 with public viewing commencing at 7:30 PM through Wednesday Dec 5 at 7 AM. It is then believed that a funeral assembly will take place at the National Cathedral later that day. President Trump has declared Wednesday Dec 5 2018 as a national day of mourning. Sometime after that he will be taken home to Texas to be buried. That trip will involve a special Union Pacific train led by UP 4141. Date: 12/01/18 13:58 Re: RIP, George H.W.
