Western Railroad Discussion > It Sure Looks Like George H. W. Bush Liked TrainsDate: 12/01/18 14:27 It Sure Looks Like George H. W. Bush Liked Trains Author: walstib A question arose today in one of the other Bush topics about whether the former president liked trains.
Judging by this photo, I would say he did. In fact, the newspaper called both 41 and 43 "electric train enthuasiasts." I snapped this picture of a display at the George W. Bush Childhood Home in Midland, Texas when I visited there in 2016. Date: 12/01/18 14:44 Re: It Sure Looks Like George H. W. Bush Liked Trains Author: Hookdragkick As American as Apple Pie!

I wonder if the photographer who took that photo was around long enough to realize his photo was of two future US Presidents.

He, Barbara, other family and diginitaries including John Major made a trip up the Valley from Sacramento aboard a special UP train. The train laid over in Dunsmuir and went north the next day. Made a stop at Mossbrea Falls where a temporary platform had been constructed. A gracious pleasant man, made it a point to meet the crew.

Gonut Date: 12/05/18 20:40 Re: It Sure Looks Like George H. W. Bush Liked Trains Author: JimBaker That unique smell of the MarxTrains was what we called 'Ozone'.
It was from the sparking of the commutator brushes in loco's motor. James R.(Jim) Baker Whittier, CA Date: 12/05/18 20:56 Re: It Sure Looks Like George H. W. Bush Liked Trains Author: dan that smell could take you guys back!
