Four Ways West Book error
Author: TopCat

Hello all,

I recently bought the Shortlines of California Voliume 1 book from Arizona Hobbies and noticed the pages are out of order at 120 to 122.  Not that it’s a big deal, but should I write an email to Four Ways Publishing or perhaps Arizona Hobbies regarding this mistake.  I mean, I paid $59.95 and there is an error.  I believe it should have been discounted.  Please advise if anyone else has discovered this error and what (if anything) you did.

Thanks.

They probably know about it already

Just a little curious about where they print their books. Mine are printed in Centralia, Washington. I've never had such a problem.

I knew someone who had books printed mmm...offshore. The print job was a lot less than what I pay, but a substantial amount of the print run was scrap because of big production errors.

Calling the publisher is not out of order. Particularly if the book has just been released. Four Ways will want to know that its printer got some pages in the wrong place. They may say "we already know that," but they may have books available without the error and be happy to trade you.

Yep,just cracked mine open and it has the same problem. It's sloppy but not life and death, so I'll just live with it.
I've seen much worse from Morning Sun.

Hi All;

I am the publisher of Four Ways West Publications. We've published around 140 titles, and this is the first one in which this has happened. They were shipped before we realized there was a problem. I hate errors, and because of this we will replace your book. I will need you to send the book with the pages out-of-order to us and I will mail you a corrected book.

BTW, I have all of our books printed with pride in the United States—every one of them!

Please send your book "Shortlines of Northern California - Volume One" which has a couple of out of place pages to Four Ways West Publications — 14618 Valley View Ave. — La Mirada, CA 90638 and I personally will make it good.

The Best!

Nice to have first class companies run by first class people printing railroad books for us.  I have been pleased with Four Ways West books in the past and will favor them in the future.

I was scanning this thread and thought the name of the printing company sounded familiar. So...hello Google! Walsworth Publishing is located in Marceline MO, home of Walt Disney and where the BNSF Southern Transcon runs through on the Marceline Sub (at track speed). Walsworth also has a facilty in Brookfield MO where the BNSF's Brookfield Sub gets it's name from.
