Western Railroad Discussion > When it's grey outside, fill the frame with colorDate: 12/10/18 11:56 When it's grey outside, fill the frame with color Author: Roadrailer I happened across the BNSF Byron Turn making a Saturday run towards Richland from Pasco (WA) near the UP/Port of Benton junction.
I've been wanting to grab some southward-facing snapshots and the weather and timing worked as I meet up with the local at the Yakima River Bridge. History: The Hanford Southern Connection was built to support activities on the Department of Energy/Atomic Energy Commission Hanford Nuclear Site to supplement the original northern connection from the Milwaukee Road. The 639.2-foot bridge was started in 1949 and comprises of two triple-intersecting Warren lattice truss spans and three through-girder spans built in 1899 and 1910, respectively, and purchased from the Union Pacific.
