Action at Courtland, KS.

With the pick-up completed the train leaves Courtland.  We caught him a couple of places after he left.

1 - Elevator at Courtland,
2 & 3 - Near Montrose, KS.

Ditto, but try FORTY years ago... ;^)

1. CRI&P ‘ROCK” 4309 leads train #59(??) over the Santa Fe diamond at Courtland, KS on October 23,1978. Train #59 is just a wild guess after looking at a Rock Island condensed schedule for 1973.

I was working Santa Fe Superior, NE ~ Abilene, KS local train 1344 at the time. My train is out of sight to the left in this image. It was one of the very few times I flagged a crossing and had to wait to open the gate because a "conflicting movement" was visible. I just happened to have my camera because I also took a shot of the SFe depot... ;^)

The Rock depot is long gone, thought they saved the Santa Fe depot?

They did. It was moved up N of town to a spot on US hwy 36. Last time I was out in that area I think it was an antique shop...
