Western Railroad Discussion > Amtrak SW Chief coming to Union Station on a hazy summer day.

Early Morning on 11th of August last year, the late Southwest Chief arrives in Kansas City.  You can see the haze in the air just before it was to get its real heat on for the day.
The NMRA convention was in town this week.  KC had a lot of train enthusiasts including my dad hanging around town that week.  My dad and I only made to the Train Show, but still had a great time.  We also got some railfanning in just before it started.
This was the first time I caught the Amtrak Southwest Chief.  Thanks for coming up and spending a few days with us dad.  We enjoyed having you!

Great video as always.  What time of the day was the video shot and was the Chief headed northbound?

Excellent video, thanks for sharing!  I just love the new perspective that drones give us.

I'm not sure what you mean by northbound, this Chief is timetable eastbound all the way from LA to Chicago.

Doc, really enjoyed the video, especially like the shots of a passenger train in an urban environment.  I've been on the SW Chief many times and never saw how far the station is from the main high rises in downtown Kansas City.  Ironically, I remember watching that same train on the webcam  in Flagstaff, the day before, because of the deatheaded car on the front end!

I really appreciate you posting these videos. They are superbly well done, and I look forward to seeing more.

Thanks!  It is a small world isn't it.  Yeah that car really stands out between the engines and the baggage car.

lol... I know music is hard to come by for free...  I have been trying to put sound with it and it just wasn’t working so had to go with the music.
