UP has handled this "tour" with as much public relations finesse as its busted Rose Parade float. Whomever is in-charge, there's an executive slot waiting for you at Amtrak.

You got that right.  Only a few in Ft Worth knew the engine was here.

When you consider how much attention the 4141 got during the Bush funeral, you would have thought the UP might have played-up the PR on this "tour".

This is NOT a public tour.

Considering this "tour" was never intended for the public, critisism by the public is not necessary... and they could care less.

I think a few bad apples have soured the Union Pacific Public relations on making a big deal out of this, especially after the fatality in Colorado with the Frontier special from Denver to Cheyenne.

Also in Tucson, the Union Pacific has notified the planners of the Rodeo Parade that they will not stop running trains for the Rodeo Parade. UP has shutdown Operations during the parade for some 20+ years. They want the parade route to change so that they do not cross over the railroad tracks at two locations in the City of Tucson. It looks like the organizers of the Rodeo Parade may be canceling the parade and not working to find an alternative route.
Personally, I can't blame UP for taking a negative look at events that draw large crowds with no way to keep people from encroaching on the right of way and placing themselves in harm's way.
I think this is a sign of the times, unfortunately.

UP may also remember the Texas parade where several veterans were killed.
