Western Railroad Discussion > SLRG 100

Per a request from my friend cozephyr, I slipped over to the Cheyenne service track to check on the E-8 from Iowa Pacific heading to the SLRG railway in Alamosa, Colorado.
So here it is sitting on the rear of the consist for tomorrow's MCYNY.

It's interesting that is had vertical slit FARR air grills. The originals (horizontal type) must have been replaced since they did not appear on E units until about 1952. 
One other item......this unit appears to have dynamic brakes? Were these added later on, or are those fans in the center just for additional prime mover or HEP engine cooling? I recall these units were extensively rebuilt for commuter services.
