Berkeley, Emeryville where someone ran into this signal recently, and Oakland.

Ha!  These are great!
Brilliant work.  (the sky in those last two is gorgeous- particularly the one at King Street)

In the one with the bent dwarf  (THAT was fun to write!)  near Shellmound the UPRR relay box says "67th Street".  Back-in-the-day, in college, I lived on 66th Street.  Our back fence was the Oakland/Berkeley City line- I didn't know there was a 67th Street..

Very good and original photos. I used to live where the ATSF crossed University Ave, an interesting location. Don't miss Berzerkeley though, too many ghosts. Good old Berkeley Hardware's model trains was my only refuge.

I am 83 and have been riding trains since before I was born!
Trains do not always run though the best neighborhoods...

What's to be said about Berzerkeley except it revels in it's strangeness?

There was big talk of rebuilding the waterside drill track into mainline status to faciltate more UP / AMTRAK / BNSF train movements.  And now, with the Oakland Gateway (separate from the Oakland International  Gateway yard run by BNSF...) yard completed and awaiting export trains someday, I wonder if that drill track will ever feel the weight of trains again??

I wonder if the Sarge Junction that was completed a few years back has reduced push for that extra track. BNSF doesn't run their Oakland bound intermodal trains through their Richmond yard anymore so that blocked crossing issue is no longer a big deal except maybe for some really large transfer jobs.

Every place has their claim to fame. Weirdness has been Berzerkeley's for decades.
