ALCo RS11 working in Napa Valley

Image 1 & 2 - Napa Valley 62 - Napa Valley RR 62, a former SP RS11 in Napa, CA on Sunday, March 10, 2019.

Image 3 - Napa Valley RR 62, a former SP RS11, pulling a Legacy Tour train near Silenus Winery in Napa, CA on Sunday, March 10, 2019.

ALL - According to good sources, including Strapac's fantastic SP Compendium series, NVRR 62 was built in 1959 by ALCo as a model RS11, builders number 83416, SP 5854, SP Class DF-613. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 2919 SP Class AS418-4.

This locomotive was sold in 1980 to Kyle Railways and was assigned to California Western becoming their #62. In 2000 it was sold to Napa Valley Railroad, becoming NVRR 62.

Hope you enjoy these photos. Comments welcome!

Awesome photos Steve. I really want to catch that engine working one day. Have to get up there soon.

And to think that when the Wine Train bought it, the plan was to scrap it for parts. A few employees saw it was in good shape and made a great effort to save it, despite the wishes of management.

Would be nice to see that in a museum when the time comes. Black Widow, anyone?

Thanks folks! Yes, hope to see it in a museum, operating and not neglected! The FPA's, I hope, will also find a good home.

Someone reported one of them working a couple weeks ago but that the other two aren't in service. https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?4,4737390,4737700#msg-4737700
