Western Railroad Discussion > UP/BNSF vs Platte RiverDate: 03/20/19 12:33 UP/BNSF vs Platte River Author: papio Here are some shots of the UP (Falls City Sub) and the BNSF (Omaha Sub) just north of Oreapolis where they cross the Platte River. BNSF tracks in foreeground, UP behind. Sorry that they don't show the detail I hoped they would. Both lines have sustained significant damage with spans in the water .

I hope it recedes soon. I’m out there next week. Posted from iPhone Date: 03/21/19 12:27 Re: UP/BNSF vs Platte River Author: papio HWY 75 bridges are fine, seeing lots of extra traffic as I-29 is closed Council Bluffs IA to St Joseph MO.
Date: 03/21/19 13:24 Re: UP/BNSF vs Platte River Author: callum_out OK, so I'm confused been a couple years since I lived back there. 75 used to be at rail level through Orepolis, in fact right next to
the BNSF signal boxes. Did they finally complete the new four lane to Plattesmouth? Out Date: 03/21/19 14:38 Re: UP/BNSF vs Platte River Author: papio callum_out Wrote:

It is still at rail level where you mentioned, in fact it was closed during the early stages of the flooding. The old Merrit Beach area was converted into an RV Park last year. Many of the RVs (and there are some $$$ ones) that were left there over winter are now under water or pushed off their pads into the outer areas of the park, a real mess. Ed Edited 1 time(s).
