SP rotary ready to go
Author: zephyrus

Greg Elems sent me a photo of the Southern Pacific MW208 rotary and train ready to go for the Rotary Run event on Friday at the Western Pacific Railroad Museum.  Taken today at the museum in Portola.

While all the action to prep the beast has eliminated the snow around the boarding area, reports are that there is 2 feet or so over the rail on much of the balloon track where the MW208 will make its plowing run.

The great volunteer crew has been working hard to make sure MW208, its B-unit and SP GP9 2873 are all ready to run.

Tickets for the event are still available on EventBright.  CLICK HERE

Well, maybe not.  The Mid Continent Museun in North Freedom, Wisconsin, used to have a "Snow Day" in mid-February and would crank up their
steam powered ex-OSL rotary.  However, it's been bad ordered for several years and I don't think you could get a ride in it.  That's the thing, the ride, is
what makes the Portola event special.

I want to thank the hard working members of the Portola Rail Meusem.
If you have not stopped by there, please do!
A great bunch of folks!

Are they going to rent a "snow machine" to give it something to do?   With all the local snowfall, I'll bet the local resorts have a few idle snow makers available to rent!
