Amtrak #5 detouring over the UP from yesterday afternoon.

1st  Parked at Frog Pond road for a few minutes on main #1, with a auto train stopped at Rt. #84 ahead of it.

2nd  After this manifest went by on main #2, Amtrak would cross over at Frog Pond from main one to main two and proceed west once again.

3rd  Just beginning it's trek across Iowa after crew changing in Clinton.  Shown here at the tiny town of Low Moor.

Nice shots. Seeing those two old EMD's both in perfectly shiny paint together is an odd sight.

Would you be able to note what times you saw it? I'm curious what the running times have been on the detour route.

Folks on that train should be able to clearly hear the horn up front with the new SD70AH with the nice K5LL horn, much more destinctive and louder than
the Amtrak K5LA's on the GE's.

It would have been around 5:00pm or so.

5 still isn't on train tracker

was not earlier it seemed till omaha i guess

Good stuff!  Especially the standard cab EMDs.  Nice too that they picked a decent unit for Amtrak.
