Gray Friday EMDs
Author: rrartist

While sitting at the Amtrak Depot on a very gray foggy Friday morning, the scanner came to life on the CP Marquette Sub with CP B50 announcing they would be ready to head South shortly. With my ears now tuned in to the loads and empties and lastly the power, it was time to head for La Crescent MN. Clouds or not, three EMDs warranted my attention! CP 6302 leads the CP 6306, CP 6018 with a short CP B50 has it crossed the flooded back waters of the Root River. I figured no sun, no shadows so I headed south of Brownsville MN for my last image as the train swept around the curve by the scenic wayside.

Nice shots, the CP red shows up strong in the fog.

Out of curiosity, how many of the former SOO SD60's have been rebuilt to 6300's and how many are still 6000's?

37 ex-SOO SD60s remain on the CP roster. 29 are numbered in the 62xx series keeping the last two digits of their Soo Line number, 7 were rebuilt and upgraded into the 6300 - 6306 series in rebuild order. Then there are the SD60Ms, 4 weree renumbered into the 62xx series, and one was rebuilt as 6307.
