Full Employment for Amtrak Express Cars Too
Author: railstiesballast

While trecking across Nevada enroute to Ogden I took a peek at Carlin where a pair of UP six axle engines was switching a long cut of mostly tank and covered hopper cars, but mixed in was this former Amtrak Express box, MISX 71082.
Can anyone advise how many of the former Amtrak fleet is out and working?

I see those old Amtrak Express cars roll thru the backyard from time to time on the BNSF.

Folks associated with the Morristown & Erie bought several. The high speed trucks were worth quite a bit.

Might be an illusion but that express car looks to be sagging.
