"Real" SP Heritage on the GSR
Author: mg8711

A day under a month ago, one of the last SP painted AC4400CW's rolled west on the ex SSW (SP) exx Rock Island Golden State Route (GSR) pointing train IDULB-12 here in Kansas. In a bit of a twist, the IDULB is what remains of the Blue Streak Merchandise (BSM). The DULB doesn't run with nearly the same speed as the BSM did however, and the chase was relatively easy.

1) After a nearly hour long wait, and almost getting robbed of the scene by shadows, UP 6318 and train are passing Alta Vista, KS.

2) Easing down the main at White City now, the train whistles through town, running on an approach signal for a red at the west end of the siding.

3) Blowing by Latimer, the 6318 and train are nearing a crew change ahead at Herington.

Nice stuff!  Just a bit east of where your chase started, I caught the train rolling west through Paxico, KS.

That's the shot I had wanted...but you shot that about the same time I was leaving work if I recall.

I enjoy how you've gotten the elevators in these scenes. Well done.

Out in these parts, there’s not many more options!
