Western Railroad Discussion > The UP Bar CodeDate: 06/07/19 16:02 The UP Bar Code Author: twjurgens Here's my take on the 1111 positioning move yesterday morning at Omaha, NE. The train is backed out of the yards at Council Bluffs and taken as far as the interchange with BNSF in Omaha. Its then pulled into BNSF's Gibson Yard then backed north to access the display area across from the stadium where the College World Series is played.
In the first 2 views, the train is backing toward the switch for the interchange track. In the last view, the train is on BNSF track headed for Gibson. (more) Date: 06/07/19 16:05 Re: The UP Bar Code Author: twjurgens These last 3 are of the train backing toward a small yard in north Omaha where access to the display area is gained.
Now, we're looking forward to what they display for the College World Series! Last year, it was the 1943 and in the past, a variety of power including 844 has been displayed. The NS unit 1111 called the "bar code" unit is due to the four very closely spaced straight ones - in black and white - and looking just like a bar code... Date: 06/07/19 17:06 Re: The UP Bar Code Author: twjurgens We thought that too!
